Most spiders are harmless and can actually help you by ridding your home of other insects. There are a few spiders, though, that can be dangerous. These dangerous spiders can cause severe health issues if you are bitten by them. The black widow, brown recluse and hobo spiders are all very dangerous spiders. If you discover that you have a problem with one of these types of spiders then you need to get rid of them as soon as possible.
Sometimes it can be quite difficult to identify spiders and you may not even know if you have a dangerous spider or if the spiders in your home are harmless. That is why learning how to recognize them is important. Black widows have a very round body and reach a size of about 1 ½ inches. They are black in color with red markings that look like an hourglass. Brown recluse spiders are about ½ inch in size and are brown in color. They have a darker brown fiddle shaped marking. The hobo spider is about 1 ½ inches in size and is brown in color. They have striped markings in brown.
Spiders hide and are usually found in corners or other out of the way places where they can build their web. They usually only come out at night. Spiders can be difficult to get rid of. You should start with making sure all other bugs are out of your home. They feed on bugs and this will rob them of their food source. Also you should knock down any webs you see. You may want to vacuum the webs away so if there is an egg sack you remove that. You should thrown away the vacuum bag after use. You can use sprays or other commercial pesticides as well.
Spiders can live quite a while without food and they can hide I the smallest of places. They also do not respond well to many pesticides. That is why they can be hard to get rid of and if you do not have any of the three dangerous spiders you may be better off leaving them alone. However, if you do end up with a dangerous spider you should remove them form your home as quickly as possible using the methods above.
